COACH WITH LITTLEWAVES

You coach. We find the students.

Teach swimmers from age 2 right up to adults, at families' own condo and landed-home pools near where you live. We build your weekly schedule with you and bring the equipment, so you can get on with the fun part.

  • S$30 to S$85 a lesson, bonus included
  • Part-time is fine
  • Training from our head coaches

A week of lessons built around the hours you can give

At the family's pool

Lessons happen at the family's own condo or landed-home pool. Tell us where you're based and how far you're happy to travel, and we'll match you with pools nearby.

Hours that fit around you

We build a regular weekly schedule with you, around your other commitments. No need to be full-time.

Small groups, big smiles!

Private 1-to-1 lessons or small groups of up to four. Small enough to give every swimmer your attention, and to watch them improve.

A short note after each lesson

A few lines for the parent after every lesson, using our WhatsApp template. We take care of the admin around it.

S$30 to S$85 a lesson once your training period (your first 20 lessons) is done. Where you land in that range depends on your tier and how many swimmers are in the group, and your tier can rise as you complete more lessons with us. The range includes the bonus we pay for every 60 lessons, which is paid when no more than four of those lessons were cancelled and no more than four were postponed.

Three certificates, and you're ready to coach

All three are required before your first paid lesson. Parents see these same three on our lessons page, so they know who's coming to their pool. Already hold all three? Then you meet our standard.

  1. Standard First Aid with CPR and AED

From the Singapore Red Cross or an SRFAC-recognised provider.

  2. ASCA swim coaching qualification

From the Australian Swim Coaches and Teachers Association, or a Singapore-recognised equivalent.

  3. Safe Sport certification

From Sport Singapore's Safe Sport programme.

We also look for some hands-on experience teaching children to swim, and plenty of patience with a nervous swimmer.

What you get from us

Lesson plans to teach from

Our lesson plans follow the SwimSafer programme, with the guidelines for each stage laid out for you.

Training from our head coaches

Stroke technique and drills, plus how we assess a swimmer's progress, taught right on the pool deck.

No hunting for students!

No advertising yourself, no juggling bookings. We find the families and send you your lesson schedule, so your time goes on coaching.

A month to settle in

Around one month of onboarding to get you teaching on your own: you watch our coaches teach first, then coach alongside us, then take lessons solo.

Equipment provided

Kickboard, pool noodle and back float all come from us.

Five steps from applying to your first lesson

  1. Apply

Fill in the online form, or email us your name, your certificates and where you coach now.

  2. A 15-minute call

A friendly chat about your coaching, the days you're free and where you're based, and we go through the rates for your tier. Within three working days of the call, you hear back from us with a yes or a no.

  3. Shadow a lesson (optional)

Want to see exactly what you're signing up for? Join one of our head coaches at a real lesson before you decide. It's up to you, and it's especially handy if you're newer to coaching.

  4. Contract

If it's a yes on both sides, we send you the contract to sign. Every coach also completes a background check. It's standard for everyone who teaches with us.

  5. Your first lesson

You coach alongside us first, then take your own swimmers. Expect around a month of onboarding before you teach on your own. Your first 20 lessons are your training period. Welcome aboard!

Questions coaches ask us

How much does it pay?

Once your training period (your first 20 lessons) is done, you earn S$30 to S$85 a lesson, depending on your tier and how many swimmers are in the group. Your tier can rise as you complete more lessons with us. The range already includes the bonus we pay for every 60 lessons, which is paid when no more than four of those 60 lessons were cancelled and no more than four were postponed. We go through the exact rates for your tier on the call.

How does the training period work?

Your training period is your first 20 lessons with us, and it's paid at a provisional rate we go through on the call. Our head coaches train you in stroke technique, drills and how we assess progress. If you need a little longer to reach our standard, that's okay: training can run for up to three months.

What happens if a family cancels?

Most cancellations are rescheduled, and you're paid for the lesson when you teach it. If a family cancels at the last minute, we look at it case by case.

When and how do I get paid?

Once a month, by PayNow or bank transfer. LittleWaves pays you, never the family, so you never chase a parent for fees. Each set of four lessons you finish with a family is paid together.

Do I need to be full-time?

Not at all, part-time is fine. We agree a weekly number of lessons with you when you join, and build the schedule around the days you're free.

Where would I be teaching?

At families' own condo and landed-home pools. We match you with pools near where you're based, within the distance you're happy to travel.

Do I need my own insurance?

Personal accident insurance is strongly recommended, but you don't need it to join. We go through the options with you when you come on board.

I have the certificates but not much teaching time. Should I apply?

Yes, please do! Tell us on the form. If you'd like to see a lesson up close before deciding, you can shadow one of our head coaches first.

What if it turns out not to be a fit?

Before you sign anything, you're welcome to shadow a real lesson with one of our head coaches and see what the job involves. It's optional. If you go ahead, we go through the full contract with you, notice period included, before you sign.
